Conscience makes cowards of us all.

I don't know who wrote this quote, I found it at a site for famous quotes and thought it fit my mood for today in a weird, backassward sorta way! For some I think this is a fairly accurate saying. For others, it couldn't be more further from the truth!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I can't remember if I ever put the answer to my lyric question up or not. . . . so here it is: "And so I come, To be the one, Who's always standing next to you . . . " is from I'll be your lover, too by Van Morrison.
I heard it at the end of the movie Proof of Life with Meg Ryan and Russell Crowe. I have always loved Van Morrison's music, who can not like "Brown-eyed Girl" [oh, I know this version it plays SUCKS!, but it has the lyrics and it was the only one I could find on short notice!]
Anyway, I do really like Van Morrison's music, I guess like with most things you either like him or you don't.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I think I previously mentioned that I bought myself a PalmOne pda as an early GRADUATION present to myself!! { Diva I hadn't mentioned my impending GRADUATION in a while so there ya go! I'm sure you were missin' hearin' about it!!lol} Anyhoo, back to my pda!!! which I absolutely love!! I figured out how to HotSync it today which was soooooo fun and I felt so technically savy!!! ha! It does so many things that I had no idea about!! I have had it for a couple of weeks, but just today got around to downloading the software!!! [I'm apparently a procrastinator!!] I played solitaire for an hour {exaggeration} just because it was new to my palm! go figure, I'm also apparently easily amused!!!lol
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I guess I should wrap this up, I have my RAD Class (Rape Aggression Defense) at 6:30 and I need to get something to eat before hand. It's a really great self-defense class! It makes you feel empowered!! I didn't realize I could hit so hard!!lol They're offering it at the University that I attend, it's a four week class and a great price $free!!! can't beat that!! I figured it wouldn't hurt to know how to defend myself considering I've chosen the field of Criminal Justice and I also thought it might look good on my resume!
Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
ta for now. . . . . .

Shall We Dance?

Ok, I have never really had any desire to learn to ballroom dance. However, I watched the movie "Shall we Dance?" with Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon(sp?), Jennifer Lopez, etc. and 'OH MY GOSH!' it does look like so much fun! Not the competition aspect mind you, just the learning. Of course this idea is completely derailed because 1) I am a complete clutz and probably borderline tone deaf and 2) you would have to have a mate that was at least semi romantic and mine's idea of being romantic is saying "you wanna get naked?". So looks like the ballroom dancing is out for me!!

In my last post I was bragging about my most beautiful ring and the Diva said to post a picture so I am going to try it. I can't figure it out right now so I will have to try again when I get home and am not so distracted!

Isn't it pretty!! Posted by Hello

I GOT THE GREATEST ANNIVERSARY PRESENT TODAY!

I only have half a second to post right now, but I just had to tell . . . my husband (the one that is usually quite a pain in the ass and regularly fails to give me gifts of any kind!) gave me the most beautiful Anniversary ring today! He said it was to replace my wedding band that I've always worn, because we were soooo broke when we got married the one he got me was very small and plain and he wanted me to have something much nicer! [not that we aren't still broke!!!lol] Anyhoo, it's beautiful!

I have a busy weekend ahead so I may not make it back til Monday! Have a terrific weekend!!!!

And so I come, To be the one, Who's always standing next to you . . .

I'll give you three guesses as to what song the above lyric goes to. The only clues are 1) it is one of my favorite songs and 2) It was in a movie that had Russell Crowe in it.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

I am procrastinating right now. I should be working on a Deed and closing papers, but I just cannot seem to focus. I have a large research paper due tomorrow that I have gotten no where on, my Anniversary is Friday (we haven't ever made reservations anywhere - I may b-t-h about that later), my youngest daughter's bday is Saturday {OH CRAP! I just realized I haven't gotten her anything yet!! Bad mommy! I have however planned her swimming bday party and she thinks in her words, "sweet, you rock mom!"}, I have to get her cake made, my sister and her kids are coming to town Friday night, and list just keeps on going. Kind of like that freaken energizer bunny!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
My research paper is on what we think is the biggest problem in the Juvenile Justice System. So if anyone would like to chime in, maybe it would help spur me into action!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Our Anniversary being on the day before our daughter's bday made us decide to plan something for the weekend after. Now he will not commit to any destination. He went from it doesn't matter what it costs we need to get away, to isn't that kind of expensive for a weekend. Oh well, if we don't actually make it anywhere it will just be one of several disappointments of late.
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
We're having her bday party in the meeting room of a hotel and it includes access to the indoor pool. So since we were not able to do the Flip Shop this is a terrific second! And the best part is we don't have to drive 30 minutes to get there! Yeah for me!! Now I just have to figure out what to get for the little stinker!! Her dad wants to get her a mini dirt bike! He's lost his mind!! Maybe if we lived in the country or had a huge yard (couple of acres), but not in town with no where to ride it except in the street. He gives me such a headache sometimes!
Speaking of him giving me a headache - - last night our kindergarten age daughter was complaining about how this little girl in her class is mean to her and so on (mind you it was 20 minutes after I told her to go to bed when dad came in and this conversation started) so his suggestion is to just punch her in the nose and then she'd leave her alone! Ok, there are several reasons why I think this is not the road we want to teach her to take one of those reasons being she goes to a private Christian school and it completely flies in the face of what she has been taught! I'm ok with sticking up for yourself and if someone hits you sometimes you have to hit back to stop further attacks. But come on, she is in kindergarten and it is really just a girls will be girls tiff. The little diva in question is without a doubt a brat (and I do not call many kids other than my own brats) she has shown her horrible attitude at several school functions for everyone to see while her mom stands there and says things like "now honey I'll explain it to you when we get home." and this was said to something that would have had me and just about everyother mother in the room mortified and ready to dole out punishment! So you know what they say about how far that apple falls. . . . Anyway, he just shouldn't be teaching her that violence is the answer. Luckily she comes to me with this stuff first and only uses it on him as her get out of bed for awhile card. She actually told him she wouldn't do it his way, it was wrong. I just fear one day the headmaster is going to call and have me come and pick her up because she's been suspended for fighting and when asked why she did it, her reply will be "my dad told me too"!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I am completely excited that my sister is coming in on Friday! She lives in Paola, Kansas and we don't get to see each other nearly enough! She has two beautiful kids, one is 2 1/2 and the other is 7 months. The last time she was down we went to the Trace Adkins concert at Buffalo Run. He smiled and waved at me! No joke, want to know why. . . I was standing up hollering when my sister grabs my arm and goes "he waved at you!" when I turned to laugh at her and say yeah right I realized I was the ONLY person in the ENTIRE room that was standing!!!! and we were on the 8th row center so I was in plain view! oops!!!lol We had the best time. It was however the only concert I have ever been to where everyone sat down (except me) almost the entire time. At one point me, my sister, and two of my friends just remained standing and after a few minutes everyone gave up and stood!!! I know I'm terrible, acting like a ----- teenager!!! O'well how many times will I ever get that close to TRACE ADKINS probably just that once!
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Well I should probably stop procrastinating and work on either my research paper or my actual work!!! Hope I didn't bore anyone to tears! I am putting an excerpt from an article I read this morning, the quote is from President Bush and oh boy do I have a rant on that. . . . So my next post may not be liked by staunch Bush supporters. 'Til next time. . . . .

The bill got final congressional approval last Thursday, and Bush said he was eager to sign it. "These common sense reforms will make the system stronger and better so that more Americans — especially lower-income Americans — have greater access to credit," he said.

I'm ready to get off the merry-go-round now...........

It's been a few days since I've been here.....just way busy with school and life in general.
I think we are going to go with Eureka Springs or Hot Springs for the Anniversary thing. Hopefully it will go well.
I am starting a RAD Class tonight. It is Rape Aggression Defense Class at the University. I figure I should probably have some idea of how to protect myself properly, just in case I do get on with Probation & Parole! I did extremely well in my firearms class last semester!! Which is shocking considering I had only previously shot a gun like twice.
My youngest is turning 6 in a couple of weeks and I really need to get her party planned. We were going to go to the The Flip Shop for her party, but I didn't realize you had to book it 2 1/2 months early! So I have to figure something else out!YIKES!
It's funny when you realize you must say a phrase too much because you hear your child say it. . . i.e., the other day I hear my 5 year old say to her friend, "You don't even want to go there with me right now!" I must tell you to hear this come out of such a little person is quite funny. She's a petite little thing with a great big attitude, so this don't mess with me statement was extremely blunt and serious. And her friend was just speechless. I laughed so hard.

My husband never calls me during the day, unless he needs me to do something. So yesterday I answer the phone (at work) and it's him. After the hi's and such he calmly says, "I was stripping forms and one of them hit me in the head and I think I might need stitches." So he tells me what happens and (he's a VERY big joker and loves to give me a hard time) all and then says he doesn't really think he needs stitches. So I ask if he's ok, if he has any workers with him (he did), does he really need stitches, etc. He then just kind of himhaws around saying not much of anything sounding kind of drugged and I'm like "do I need to come get you, or call someone, or anything?" he replies "no". And in retrospect (and if you don't know us well) this sounds kind of mean of me, but if you knew him (&me) you'd understand, I say "so do you need something?" and he replied, "No, I just wanted to see how you were doing." I almost fell out of my chair!!! We've been married almost 10 years and I can't remember him ever calling me at work just to see how I was doing. So this immediately freaked me out, cause now I'm convinced that he must've hit his head REALLY HARD, and lost a lot of blood and needed to be seen by a doctor!!! He thought I was kidding, but I really think he must have some kind of concussion or something. . . . . .
8888888888888888888888888888888888888
On to another subject.
Has anyone been watching Grey's Anatomy? I really didn't think from the previews that I would like it. But I'm hooked! Maybe it's Patrick Dempsey, I had not realized before how appealing he is.
And what about LOST, I don't know how I'll survive all summer without watching it. I'm not a big tv watcher, but the two I mentioned above, Alias and Desperate Housewives (if you haven't you should go to the DH site and take the "Which Desperate Housewife are you?" quiz, there is also a version for the guys!) have me watching, weekly. And for me this is unheard of, to actually know what day and time something is on tv is very rare! I mean I like other shows, CSI Miami, Las Vegas, Medium and West Wing, but I always forget when they are on and only see them once in a while.
Well I am rambling in the abyss now, so I guess I'll sign off. I need to change so that I can go to Curves before my RAD Class.
Hope everyone has had an amazing day! See ya next time.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein

I think Albert's quote pretty much says it all! Yesterday I had spent quite a while typing in my most wonderful blog and low and behold the mysterious computer monster ATE IT! I mean that must have been what it was, otherwise it would have to be blamed on me and my infinite stupidity. And we just can't have that now can we?
***************************************
I was simply rambling on about the remodel at my house that is at a stand still, so I guess those lost words won't be missed too terribly.
I was thinking about our anniversary get away while checking the NASCAR race schedule AND GUESS WHAT? Do you give up? Ok, Ok, I'll tell you. . . . . The weekend of April 17th the race is at Texas Speedway!!! So I'm thinking how great this would be. Then I discover that if you want great seats you have to be willing to pay around $350.00 and $190 for VIP Pit Passes, and if you want good seats you have to be willing to pay around $200, the ok seats are $150 and the backstretch ranges from $75 to $95. Who wants backstrech? I want the great seats and the VIP Pit passes! But if you add it up 2 Great tickets, 2 VIP pit passes, 3 nights in hotel, at least 12 meals, airplane tickets and/or car rental and lets not forget the little extras and your grand total equals the cost of a 4 night all inclusive stay (at a good place) in CANCUN. So therein lies my dilemma - Cancun or NASCAR? Some of you are probably saying "You crazy woman there is no issue here, a sane person would easily choose NASCAR!" right? Well, I guess the problem is I'm having a hard time justifying that my great desire to be up close and personal in the PIT at a NASCAR race is the appropriate way to celebrate our anniversary. Husbands can be such a pain I swear! I mean it's my anniversary too, and yet he doesn't think that we should spend it at a place where I'll spend the entire day screaming some other man's name! *sigh* Men, ya can't live with and you just can't _____________ well fill in the blank - there are so many options.

I must give praise here to the DIVA for she is a great and wonderful blog teacher. Did you see that I did a link and it works! WOW!

***************************************
I must say that it has only been a few times here to this blog and I am hooked. Terrible, I know.

I almost forgot to mention. I graduate on May 14th @ 9:30 a.m. I am sooooo excited and happy to be finished. I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice Administration with a double minor in Juvenile Justice and Paralegal and an Associates of Science in Law Enforcement. Yeah, for me. Now I just have to figure out a career path!
And even more exciting than that, my youngest will be graduating from Kindergarten in May!!! They have a whole ceremony with little caps and gowns, I can't wait.

I guess that's enough for now I'll leave you with my favorite Irish blessing:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

This and other wonderful blessings and Irish Proverbs can be found at Trivia . I just like doing that link thing.
Have a great and wonderful day!

This is soooooooo funny I had to post it!

A man had just finished reading his book "Man of the House" while making his commute home from work. By the time he reached home, he stormed into the house and walked directly up to his wife, pointing his finger in her face, he said, "From now on I want you to know that I am the man of this house and my word is law! You are to prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I expect a sumptuous dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you're going to draw my bath so I can relax. And when I'm finished with my bath, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?" "The Funeral Director is my guess," said his wife.

That has to be one of the best comebacks ever!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I really, really, really NEED a vacation SOON!!

Well it's been a couple of days since I've been here so there should be a lot to talk about, but my life is fairly boring so. . . I'll just fill you in on the basics.
Saturday I helped my girlfriend with her daughter's bday party. It was a 70's Disco theme. You should've seen my gold sequenced snake skin pants! I actually had to go into wal-mart to get some soda for her party! Talk about getting some looks! It was pretty funny. The party went well, the kids had a really good time. My mouth was bothering me terribly so I didn't have a great time.
Sunday I woke up with a horrible"I think it's going to kill me" toothache. There is nothing like the misery of a toothache! I was supposed to drive my cousin to the airport, but called my dad and asked him to take pity on me and drive her. My oldest daughter had stayed the night at her girlfriend's house so it was just me and my youngest. I put in a movie and she was content for a while, then I told her I'd pay her if she did some extra chores (you know a time filler), and then her friend called and came and picked her up for a play date. I was so relieved, I could lay on the couch and revel in my pain without interruption. I'm kidding here. I was able to take a pain pill and not worry about falling asleep while she was awake. So it was one of the nicest days we've had in ages and I was to miserable to enjoy it.
Monday was normal. I was able to get into the dentist and he told me we could extract it or do a root canal. Do you have any idea what a root canal and crown cost these days?!? $1,220.90. I almost fell out of my chair! And get this, my insurance will pay a whole $330.00. What is that? So I've got pain killers and antibiotics and an appointment next Monday to get it extracted!
I WENT TO LADY'S NIGHT! at the casino! This is a first for me. I called up my girlfriend and said we're going out! We both lost of course! But hey we were out with no husbands and no kids for a full TWO HOURS! We may have to do it again real soon.
I just got my graduation announcements in the mail, I can't tell you how excited I am! My graduation is set for May 14, @ 9:30 am. I am graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice Administration with a double minor in Juvenile Justice and Paralegal and an Associate's of Science in Law Enforcement. YEAH!!! I am so happy that I am almost finished, and yet a little freaked out that I have to now seek out my career!
Well I guess that's all for now, I'm going to head to Curves and eat some lunch. Thanks diva lady for the shout out. I'm going to try that link thing now. . . .

My First Time - Blogging

Well this is my first time - Blogging. I'm not sure about it yet. I started reading one written by a redneck I know and became addicted to hers and a few others. It seems to be a great place to vent, release, fume, contemplate, share and just write. And oh how I need a place to do these things.

I work full-time, am married with 2 beautiful daughters, lead a troop of girl scouts, secretary of our PTO and am in my last semester at the University of my choice finishing my Bachelor's degree. So busy am I! And with all of this busy-ness I have few outlets and I love to write and I love to talk soooo I figured, hey why not try this blog thing, what could it hurt.

I live in a little (and I really mean little) town and drive 35 minutes to the big city (not really that big) to work. Last Tuesday I let my girls skip school to visit their cousin who is in town for the week so they rode to the big city with me to be dropped off at their nanny's (my grandmother) house. I now have an answer for all those that ask "Don't you get sick of driving so far to work?". My answer is this. . . . H E double hockey sticks NO! This morning I really needed my 35 minutes of peace and quiet, nothing but me and the chosen CD (Trace Adkins is that CD right now). Out of the 168 hours in a week I get approximately 5 hours to myself! And I did say 5, these are the hours I spend driving to and from work. So this morning when I had to share those precious minutes (please don't misunderstand this I do completely love my children) with one crying "I didn't want donuts, I wanted a breakfast sandwich" and the other practicing the art of the "wet willie" I found myself thinking oh how I love my drive ALONE to work!

***************************************
This is for the diva! I went to Fizzle & Pop the other day to read your story on the story board. I was about 1/2 way through it when my boss requested my presence in his office. Not thinking anything of it I left your story up and went back to see what he wanted. While back there, his son (he's also an attorney in our office) wanted to turn off Best Case on my computer so that he could use it. Once I was done with the meeting I go back to my desk and front and center on my screen is, you guessed it, your story! I glanced down and quickly finished reading what turned out to be your X-RATED story!!!!! and as I turned around my boss is behind me reading it too!!! SOOOO you can guess what the joke of the office is now!
****************************************
On to my last subject of the morning... My 10th Anniversary is coming up! and we are trying to decide what to do. We've talked about Cancun, Cozemel, and cruise, but I'm thinking we should probably just do the weekend thing closer to home. He mentioned Branson! Branson is great, we (me, my kids, my sister, her kids, and g-ma etc.) do it every summer Silver Dollar City, shopping for school clothes, etc. so I don't want to do it for our anniversary too. I'm graduating in May so it will be too hectic for us to do the cruise thing or anything very far away...... So any ideas would be welcome.
